Now Available: Alan Alda and the secrets of communicating

Film and TV legend Alan Alda has always been a first-rate performer. You probably know him best as Hawkeye Pierce on M*A*S*H, or from his 11 years hosting PBS’ Scientific American Frontiers. His new book, If I Understood You, Would I Have This Look on My Face? My Adventures in the Art and Science of Relating and Communicating, is all about connecting and the lessons he learned from acting, improv, and storytelling.

Along with acting and directing, Alda is also an exceptional communicator, and he wants us all to learn how to communicate exceptionally – too. A visiting professor at and founder of Stony Brook University’s Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science, his new company, Alda Communication Training (ACT), helps people communicate more effectively face-to-face and in writing.

The winner of numerous Emmys, Golden Globes and DGA Awards, Alda is the bestselling author of Never Have Your Dog Stuffed—And Other Things I've Learned, and Things I Overheard While Talking to Myself. Alda sits on the scientific advisory board at The Future of Life Institute alongside Stephen Hawking and Elon Musk, and is on the Board of Directors of the World Science Festival.
